Traffic Circles

We have this thing called a traffic circle in Benbrook. If I so choose to drive that way to work, I must maneuver this traffic circle. I have yet to learn the proper rules for entering and/or exiting the traffic circle. Seriously, even trying to stay ON the traffic circle is crazy business. There are approximately 4 places to get on and 4 places to get off. I believe there are 3 lanes and so the getting on lane and the exiting lane - you got it - are one and the same. To make it even more confusing, it appears to me, after getting honked at by 3 separate cars, that more than one lane of the circle can be an exit lane. Who designed this thing????

I am CERTAIN it was not an Accountant - even Engineers are more practical than this. Perhaps it was designed on a day when the accountants and engineers were off at separate conferences and the crazy art and design department got their hands on this project and proceeded to have a wine and cheese party while they pulled this practical joke of a traffic circle that is located between my home and my work. Well, the accountants and engineers probably had one too many margarita's at their conferences (they don't get out much) and in their hung over states signed off on this mess of a traffic creation.

Wednesday, I was trying to merge in, so I could exit out one quarter of the way around the circle. The cars that were coming from the left were 2 lanes over, since I needed the close lane, I thought I was safe. As I said before - 2 of those lanes can exit right after the on lane - Ugh!!!! No one got hurt, but everyone appeared to be a bit angry with me.

Isn't this a little like life itself? Sometimes we run into a Benbrook traffic circle - and we just don't know the rules, the danger, and we muck it all up.

I have mucked up a bit of my life from time to time. No regrets - though. Live and let live; let it be; love the one you're with; and all that other good philosophy that works pretty well when you feel like poo.

Things always look better in the morning, and if they don't, well.......... then you're really in trouble.

Today the dogs got walked, chicken stew got made in the crockpot and my almost eighteen year old and I went and saw the movie "Morning Glory". Now it's time to sip a glass of Merlot and eat that stew that has made our home smell heavenly!

Life really is good - there are just some parts that just suck and we all have to get through them knowing that there is more of the good stuff - there is more good ahead. Eat your stew, sleep tight, and love, love, love! The answer is always Love.

Namaste

  1. Judy.. When I was stationed on the East Coast in the Air Force they called them "grinders", and they were correctly named. The rule of thumb was that if there was an accident the person at fault was the one that hit the other behind the front fender....hummmm...sound like chaos? Absolutely....as with life it can be worse....lol...just gotta laugh kid.
